Why We Are Not a B & B

A great amount of consideration was given before establishing the theme for our little slice of paradise. Being that we have a fabulous on-site restaurant, going the way of the B & B would have been an easy decision. Then the planning questions started to pop up. How much more should we add to the room rate for a $5.00 breakfast? Should the room rates be different if one or two or three guests occupy a room? Should we offer a limited special menu to control the cost of a meal? Should we be like so many bed & breakfasts that provide juice, coffee, a sweet roll and a banana for breakfast? Absolutely not!

What was most important was providing a great place to stay and the freedom to explore any or all of the restaurants in this great city. In my travels, my choice has always been staying in smaller boutique hotels, some of which included breakfast. Funny thing was that I always felt the obligation to eat there because I had paid for that breakfast whether I ate it or not. Then I always wondered what gastronomic experiences awaited me on the outside.

So we have taken the pain out of the breakfast decision making process and kept our rates as low as possible to boot. If you wake up too relaxed to venture out, you may enjoy a delicious $4.00 breakfast prepared by your hostess Lucy - that didn't add $20.00 to your room rate. On the other hand, if you are raring to get up and go, Mazatlan awaits you. Besides, naming ourselves Loro de Oro Inn was so much easier and faster than typing Loro de Oro Bed and Breakfast!
